A list of aftermarket and OEM wipers for Mk4, which might be of help when looking for substitutes on e-bay etc. Please note that:

  • Ford OEM wipers are made by Bosch
  • Due to specific aerodynamic shape, windscreen wipers for LHD and RHD Mk4s differ and are not interchangeable
  • LHD and RHD hatchback rear wiper is equivalent to RHD windscreen passenger side wiper
  • Saloon has no rear wiper (just in case you don't own a saloon yourself, but are helping out someone who does)

Service position

The service position brings the front wipers roughly halfway up on the windshield. This comes in very handy when replacing the wipers, or when just cleaning the windshield and the wipers.

Immediately after turning off the ignition, push down and hold the wiper stalk, until the wipers start moving. They will stop in service position. When done, turn the ignition back on, and if the wipers don't move again, give the wiper stalk a gentle push down.

(Yes, it's in the manual too, but it's still a handy tip worth mentioning when talking about wiper blades.)
