Mk3 Pre Face Lift speaker wire colours

I’ve been studying the Haynes manual in preparation for fitting some components … as you might expect it’s not enormously clear, but the Mondeo one (#3990, green cover, Oct 2000 to Jul 2003, X to 03 reg) is better than some – at least they provide a translation for the German wire colour abbreviations. I swear I had a manual for a Citroen where they just printed the diagrams without any annotation … “J … j … what the hell colour begins with j? …. (thinks back to GCSE French) … ah! Yellow!”. But I digress…

I’ve assumed that the terminals labelled ‘1’ and ‘2’ on the wiring diagram correspond to +ve and –ve … If I’m wrong at least nothing will be out of phase ;)

The wiring diagram implies that all but the rear left speaker have a connector at some point in their wiring run, the colours certainly change part way.
