Introduction

This will show you how to remove the green stuff from the heater control panel and headlight switch found on the Mondeo Mk1 and Mk2.

Tools needed

  • Cotton buds
  • Surgical spirit
  • Surgical blade
  • Small flat ended screwdriver
  • Hair dryer

Method

The first thing is to remove the front black plastic. With the aid of a surgical blade, section the black plastic in three parts. This will ease the process of removing the black plastic.

Using a hair dryer, apply heat from underneath. You will need to apply more heat on the highlighted areas. The black plastic should start soften a little bit.

Better to start with the middle section. It is the easiest one.

The inner part is slightly difficult to be detached. Try using a small flat screwdriver and pull gently.

You can also cut the inner side with a surgical blade to ease the process.

Continue heating while pulling the black plastic off. Always remember to take good care. You don’t want to end with this.

When you have removed the black plastic, it's now time to remove the green stuff. Apply some surgical spirit on a cotton bud and rub the green stuff.

The headlight switch unit is the same as the heater control panel. The only thing is that on the headlight unit you need to rub a little bit harder since the first white coating is a little bit harder to be removed.
