I am an Engineer not a Mechanic, my job is not just to repair a problem but to foresee them and try to engineer a solution to stop a problem occuring.

I own a Ford Mondeo Mk3 (2001) and try to maintain and repair it myself, I frequently look at members answers myself and use there expertise to help myself with common and easy repairs, I now want to offer my expertise which is as follows;

  • I am one of the amateurs that does attempt to repair my Vehicle, without specialist

-tools or knowledge by using tried and tested engineering solutions.

  • I have previous implemented solutions to common problems using techniques not

-usually used by mechanics.

  • I am all about safely working and do not like anyone who impedes safety.
  • I, like most of you, want the cheap option, not the Mechanic (Expensive) option.

I believe repairing a vehicle is not to make money, (which is the aim of alot of mechanics) but to find and problem solve why a repair is needed in the first place. Cars are very rudeamentary, they can run with alot of components being inefficient, saying that then, they shouldnt break down, but yet they do, and it creates a very large industry that people are only to happy to take advantage of, so i wished to join to offer my experience of maintaining my vehicle and finding solutions to them, along side the experience of family members i consult with, such as a Brother who is a Ford Technician, a Father who is a Ford Trained Mechanic and a GrandFather who is a Vauxhall Trained Mechanic.

Although not an expert in vehicles, i believe i can help members and guests. The differences between an Engineer and a Mechanic are as follows:

  • Engineers dont make money, they save it, we work on contracts, every repair digs into our profit,

-Mechanics make money on repairs, they like to screw you.

  • Engineers spend time to find the problem, then repair it in a way so it wont happen again,

-Mechanics change parts until the problem appears to be solved with no real thoughts as to why it happens, its just broke.

  • Engineers must be safe, my job could kill thousands of people a day, but I dont,

-Mechanics dont need to be safe, if it breaks down the car just stops, oh and more money for them.

  • Engineers fix machinery that works to 1/100 of a mm, and it must run efficiently,

-Mechanics work to cm's, cars break down alot.

  • Engineers are always proud to call themselves Engineers,

-Mechanics are called Technicians if they are in an important role.
