Steaming Or Smoking Exhausts

Problems

All engines will produce some water vapour (steam) whilst running, and will appear to produce more on a cold day. However, if your exhaust fumes are smoky, this may indicate something wrong with the engine which will need attention before long...

Blue smoke on start-up: Valve Seals

Blue smoke when driving: Piston Rings

White smoke: Head Gasket or if diesel (tcdi) turbo blown.
