How long does this take? ????

… Headlight washers not working (make sure your headlights are on)

… Cooling fan on all the time when engine running (is your AC on)

… Transit like at start up but fine after 5 minutes (it’s just the way the 2.2 TDCi lump is)

… Glow plug lit - usually EGR valve needs cleaning/replacing or injector/s need re-programming/replacing. Fuel pump. Various others.

… Rattling from clutch area - DMF could be on its way out with new clutch and starter motor too.

… Rattling from engine - check belts and pulleys, early 2.2 engines were affected by pulley resonance which is covered under a technical service bulletin number TSB18/2005 (TSB 18-2005 "I mentioned to Ford about the vibration and they have always said its outside the build date, this time however, much to my amazement, they fixed it. They could not carry out the mod as it was outside the build date, but they replaced the belts and tensioner pulley, which is covered by the warranty, no crank pulley, but the vibration has gone. If you need this doing, tell them that you think the tensioner pulley is faulty, this they will do on warranty.")

… Rough running - throttle position sensor/cam position sensor/EGR/MAF. Fuel pump/filter. Faulty injector/s. Air filter.

… Smoke. Depends on colour. Faulty EGR. Faulty injectors. Fuelling mis-timed.

… Loss of power. If car not in limp mode check turbo and hoses.

.. Whooshing noise - check turbo hoses.

… Clonking from rear end/poor handling. Check for worn bushes and double check all tyre pressures are correct.

… Wind noise from doors - check door seals.

… Water in foot wells - check inner door card seals. Check pollen filter seating.

… Wheel bearing noise at speed between 45-55mph, check all tyres for distortion as this is very common problem with the ST model to distort tyres (even premium brands)
