Clear Rears - Mk2

Please Note

These lights are not road legal, but would be great for shows...

Procedure

Remove the rear light clusters

Once the unit was removed from the car, I simply made a cut, approx. 4" long, where the yellow/orange indicator plastic was, being very careful not to cut too deep, as the clear plastic is only 5-10mm below the coloured plastic

I then inserted the screwdriver into the cut, again being careful not to mark the plastic underneath, and slowly broke the coloured plastic off until I reached one edge

At this point, it was easiest to go around the edge of the unit, breaking off large chunks of plastic. PLEASE TAKE CARE!!! The plastic can break off in very sharp segments, and can fly off wildly. If there are any small parts left around the edges, you can use a pair of pliers to pull these off.

Eventually you will have all the plastic removed and will be left with a clear rear unit.

Next I had to 'paint' the desired light bulbs red, using nail varnish(!) and in my opinion it gives a really nice colour, both on and off, to the lights. I purchased some yellow/orange indicator bulbs from my local motor factors for only £3. This was my only expenditure. You can then use some sort of sealant around the edges to get rid of the red outline, if you wish...
