This is an entry to help any CMAX owners who find the key will not unlock the bonnet and do a search on the internet for that subject, I did, and found that I was almost always directed to the Mondeo or the focus with that problem and there are some good entries for those two cars that explain how to do it by drilling out the lock barrel and also by drilling out two bolts on either side of the keyhole Problem there is that the Cmax does not have such bolts the lock clips into a molding on the back of the grill and you could drill the barrel out but you will find that does not allow you to turn the cable behind the lock barrel that releases the fastening of the lock and I think any attempt to drill the barrel will almost certainly ruin the plastic fitting behind the barrel that turns the cable Some people have apparently found it possible to remove the undershield and put a 10mm spanner up behind the slam lock and remove the two 10mm bolts that fasten it to the slam panel, Personally I found my air-con pipes prevented it. I had to take a jigsaw to the grill and put my hand through the hole and over the slam panel to unbolt the bolts, I got a s/h grill from ebay for £31. Reading this you might think it sounds a bit drastic, but remember this car has a Thatcham rating and the insurance companies insist on it being made very difficult to enter and you will find plenty of comment on various forums about Fords penny pinching regarding the parts for the locks, I went in to my local ford dealers and managed to get a gaggle of Ford mechanics who were of the opinion that the only way in was as I have described above when the two parts of the cable have been disengaged as mine was. I also advise doing it yourself as you will get little change from£300 if you get ford to do it I hope this will help someone, there might be easier ways but I did not find it, it apparently is very common and the advice is to keep thlock well greased
